from a booksellers discussion forum

I have had 5 used bookstores all made some money one or two good money, one just barely.

As satinrose ( a good experienced bookseller) says the bad overtakes the good.

Start today a bookshelf of sale books or bargain books ,as it fills up ;cull.

A new arrivals case shelf, table. (Place new arrivals that are priced but not put in sections) getting them in the correct spot can be done as a third priority .

If these spots are close to check out they can be kept straight by one person working the shop and still check out folks and price books and get them on a table to be purchased . Then the books can be put in correct section when traffic is slow.

Time spent with customers will be your best starting practice , after you are open it will be your stock that allows growth.

A basic idea that can be used for ecommerce Part 2 later
